Welcome to Will Sweat for Sweets!
My blog details my personal journey to simplicity and wellness in my own life. I love, love love cooking, wine and fashion, and of course– sweets! (especially chocolate, sour gummies and cookies). I am learning that all of the sugary things I love taste much better when I don’t eat them all of the time, and are an additional reward to the rewarding feeling I get after I exercise.
My background
I grew up in a suburb south of Denver, Colorado. I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and recently graduated in 2009 with a BA in news-editorial journalism and a minor in philosophy. I started writing about the environment for my student newspaper, interned at LOHAS (lifestyles of health and sustainability) magazine and then began a public-relations internship which I hold currently at a natural and organic media relations agency.

My life as an undergrad
When I started college, I began working nearly full-time in addition to a full schedule of classes and internships so I could avoid a large amount of college debt and get ahead in my field. Needless to say, I built up a large amount of stress and unhealthy habits due to my complete lack of free time. I spent time writing about a healthy lifestyle I didn’t allow myself to have. A heavy dose of reality hit when I took a blood test for a nutrition class and found that my blood sugar and blood pressure levels were above-average at the age of 22. Yes, these disorders run in my family, but the numbers were a wake-up call.
Determined to find more balance in my life, I quit my restaurant job, took fewer credit hours, and slowed down. Learning to relax is now a priority on my to-do list.
I hope you enjoy!
